My Time In Ha Giang

I was expecting the worst when i decided to go up there. I was really taken with it. The thought that no tourist had been to Quang Binh intriqued me. I stayed with a traditional ethnic family(Tay) in their home and tasted their food and i might add a few of the local wine. Despite having to speak through an interpretur, we got on really well. It was quite warm when i went up there and so after the meal we all went and had a swim in the river (silver)it was great. i had a feeling that this is what life should be like, without a care in the world. Then met up with some local guys and went up the mountain ranges on a motorbike, very rough, but great fun. They told me they had built bamboo kyacks and decided to give it a try. It was fabulous. The next couple of days i went touring around on the back of a motorbike to see the local villages and see and observe their life styles. Everywhere i went i collected more and more people who were just as curious about me! This led to great conversations through my guide. Unfortunately all to soon i had to leave, i really enjoyed it despite the rawness and will definately go back again. I feel i made a few good friends there and have heaps of great photo's, and memories.

More of this beautiful place - Ha Giang.

Opened to the tourism in 1993 but has been largely not promoted or advertised as a tourist destination until 2004. Even now, although the tourist is made extremely welcome, not many people are taken to this wonderful natural regieon. Thus what you find here is the unspoilt raw charm of Ha Giang.

Quang Binh - Ha Giang. The place to get Real!

This is a very different tour, with a lot of travel. It provides a good chance to see and experience a place that is really not yet completely opened up to tourists. You get to see Traditional people how they still are today, going about their lives like they do every day oblivious to any other way of life. You will actually feel like you have stepped back in time.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Natural. raw and great eco and discovery tour!
  • Cons:No modern accomodation, real earthy and no modern facilities in the villages.
  • In a nutshell:Worth every single day !!

Sounds great. Have just come back from vietnam, and now have found out about this place. I like the sound of not many tourists and mixing with the locals
