This restaurant is one of the most famous ASADORES of Buenos Aires, big space with old tables and chairs, a place where you learn everything about the real argentinean barbicue, very fine service they offer and they will make you travel through the traditions of the gaucho culture.

Favorite Dish: Their salads are also very special.

In every restaurant of the city, the breakfast is a religion, and they do serve well!!! the service of this place is excellent, and the waiters are absolutely efficient, you have your privacy to read the papers, and the ambience is very discreet. When you walk through the neighborhoods of Florida you can find it, this is the way to go to the Tren de la Costa in Mitre Station.

My friend Ariel took me there and we had a great time, it was in my first week in the city!

    Sept - FIRST WEEK - 2005

Favorite Dish: The Tostado is a huge bread with han and lots of melted cheese, and cheese in Argentina is something very serious, and it was the first place where i had the SUBMARINO for the first time!

Submarino is a glass of hot milk where you put a chocolate bar which melts in the glass...it is simply delicious, these people has got class and taste!

  • by RafaelTheSecond
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Restaurant Name: LOS GITANOS

La Boca is the typical italian district of Buenos aires and also it was one of the bohemian spots of the Tango Fever in the beggining of the last century, so you will find very traditional places where Tango and the Pasta are sacred territory. The place has a big space for dancing, and a wodnerful couple Javier and Graci to show you how the TANGO is performed, and they will also teach you the first steps of Tango.

Graci and Javier has the TANGO in the veins!!!

And the folks of LOS GITANOS has the talent fo provide you the best of the Argentinean Cuisine!

Favorite Dish: The pastas....wow, all kind, they are VERY ITALIAN THERE!!! I can bet that if an italian person goes to the LOS GITANOS, they will think they are in ITALY!

I ate an extraordinary capeletti, four cheese!!!!!

In the so busy Santa Fe Street, busy but beautiful, very charming and sophisticated Avenue where I spent most of my time, I usually stopped for a coffe, or even for dinner in this very classic place in Buenos Aires. It is located right in the corner of Santa Fe and RioBamba Street, it is a great place to meet friends and have a wonderful time!

If you go there in the evening, there is a very kind water called Luis, he is really a nice person and make his work a real personal honor!

They work 24 hours a day!!!!!

    Sept - FIRST WEEK - 2005

Favorite Dish: THEY ARE SPECIALISTS IN ITALIAN fOOD, THEIR PASTA ARE MAGNIFICENT, AND THEY ARE ALSO GOOD IN SEAFOOD, THE SHRIMP RISOTTO IS SIMPLY DELICIOUS!

The Argentinean beer has a bewitched power...I can tell you..this was my last day in Buenos Aires, and I had to close it with style! And what I usually do in San Isidro is go to the river and see the people having fun, in a sunny day walking through the forests and also playing football or any sports in the green area is something very special that the San Isidreans (hahah that is good!) all do.

And I was there with my good friend and brother Mariano Rinaldi talking about life and making plans for my second visit to the country, and it will be very soon, I guarantee!

Favorite Dish: The snacks are marvelous!!! And the beer in the jarr is a plus in this greatest beer producers land!

THE CATALEJO: A SHELTER FOR BON-VIVANTS

  • Restaurant Name: THE CATALEJO

The view is not that special comparing to the tropical beaches that we have in Brazil, but as it is a river, and when we think about the wilderness of the place, we know that we are in a special place. the ambience is very sophisticated, and we have to admit that the Argentinean know how to use class and luxury. They have great style and taste. The Catalejos is a nice restaurant on the river, and a MUST GO PLACE when you visit San Isidro!

Remember, to reach that point in the river, you should pay attention in the other side of the Tren de a Costa line, in the corner of Alem Street is the way to the Riverside.

Favorite Dish: They have excellent PICADAS that you can eat with beet, and eating the best of Argentinean food, including barbecue in a big big balcany in front of the water, for sure it is something unique!

It is one of the oldest café in town and one of the most raditional cafés in the MICROCENTRO of Buenos Aires! :) setting at Café Tortoni is more than taking part of the local daily life, it is a religious experience. In this place all the composers and best Tango characters used to come and have a good time, I was sitting in the same place where Gardel used to come many times!

Favorite Dish: They have incredible sandwishes and spanish tapas, but here they all PICADAS!
