All right, you can usually do it if you come to Rio, but you will have two options...Once going to a very touristic hill in rio and paying a fortune to fly...Using paraglyders or handglyders of course!!! the second option is going to Niteroi where many local people have fun jumping from the hill with paraglyders, it is a flying school with very serious and efficient instructors. and they charge very small fees for the visitors!

I went there many times! and this is my face of happiness when I fly like a voiture in the skies of Niteroi with a gorgeous landscape of Rio and Niteroi at the same time!!!;)

Equipment: Good paraglyder and with an excellent instructor called Luciano!;)

Directions: THIS HILL IS CALLED MORO DA VIRAÇÃO, MOST KNOWN AS PARQUE DA CIDADE!

AND CLOSE TO THE GRASS...WOW!!! :)

WHEN YOU JUMP WITH YOUR PARAGLYDERS FROM THE HILL IN NITEROI, TO BE PRECISE, FROM THE TOP OF PARQUE DA CIDADE HILL, the real great sensation is getting rid of the ground and go meeting the clouds, hahahaha :) In this picture you can see my feet and the gorgeous landscape that I was supposed to see...

the beggining is very difficult, but 5 seconds later, it is like Heavens, and it is HEAVENS!!!!

Theme: Surfing

Rio is a cool destination for surfing, even in urban areas like Arpoador and Leblon, São Conrado is also a great surfing spot, but the most famous in the city is the gorgeous PRAINHA!

It is a beach where many few people from other countries knows about its existence, but now it is up to you to discover!

Directions: Prainha is one of the last beaches in our coast line!

Theme: Surfing

It is hard to go there by bus, because there is no bus that takes you to Prainha...It is hard to go there walking, you have got to cross some hills to finally reach this gorgeous paradise. So the best way to go there is using a car and also get to know someone who knows the area quite well.

But when you head your way to Barra da Tijuca and follow the coast going west, you will find a Natural Reserve called Grumari...Prainha is the first beach of this Reserve!

Equipment: ALL YOU NEED IS A SURFING BOARD!

When you are planning a trip to Rio and you wish to go hanglyding or paraglyding you will think about Pedra Bonita in Rio, and you are right...this is the place in Rio where you can do it...but it is not so off the beaten path thing to do as in every travel book you will find comments about it, and it s so worldwide famous that the prices are over the clouds!!!

But there is a solution...in Niteroi, there is a fantastic viewpoint where Niteroi and the entirely skyline of Rio can be seen, and there is a local PARAGLYDING SCHOOL THERE!!!

And to jump you spend less money and you will have very efficient instructors, local price ONLY!!!

And you can fly like this!!! (see picture!)
