For sure it is one of the cheapest ways to explore the State of Rio if you want to go to Buzios, Ilha Grande, Mangaratiba, Petropolis, Paraty and many cities of Rio. You can also travel to different states of the country from there! April 2005

Getting TO/AROUND: Radek and Peter from Australia had great days in Rio and I had the pleasure to have lots of fun with them. and for sure I had to be with them in their very last minute in the city when they took a bus to the wetlands of Mato Grosso which one day In the future I am thinking to tell you all what it is. Abnd Romenia before going to Spain was there too! The Rodoviaria is a great place to see different faces!;) April 2005

Getting TO/AROUND: Ina cool attempt to avoid the traficc in Niteroi, the city made another ferryboat station in São Francisco Beach, providing more time for the people to spend with their families and enjoy life in the city! It also includes the greatests landmarks of Rio. The crossing between Niteroi (in São Francisco) is about 25 minutes to the Rio's City Centre! You pay just 5 reais (2 dollars) and you can have the best of both cities!;) April 2005

Getting TO/AROUND: Niteroi and Rio are growing bigger each year, so problems like traffic jams are very common in the cities, in the rush hour, the ferry boats are really useful. We have a new ferry boat station with fast catamarans which leaves downton Rio to Charitas, famous neighborhood of Niteroi close to the most popular districts in the city either to the Bay Area or the Ocean Region. Very useful place, and the Ferryboat Station has the project of the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer. The Station was contructed this year and it is still working, the design is very modern and there are nice restaurant and shops in the place! Very impressive construction which fits alot with the natural landscapes! May 24th, 2005

Getting TO/AROUND: The crossing takes 20 minutes, and it links Niteroi to Rio, most of the people in Niteroi work in Rio, so the ferries are very useful. They are modern, safe and confortable! The ticket costs 5 reais, which is about 2 american dollars, and in front of the Ferry Station there are buses to everywhere in the city and in Rio you can stop at Praça 15, very famous location in the city centre close to the subway and to many bus stop which serves all over the city! These kind of construction makes you feel that we are as urban as many modern city in the World. Getting TO/AROUND: The Ferryboat is in Charitas Beach, and the surroundings is full of hills. It is a historic place where the priest of the company of Jesus, the famous Jesuitas settled here almost 500 years ago to teach religion to the local indians. Now it is a midlle class neighborhood of Niteroi and ti has a big favela called Preventorio! Charitas is also a place for busy nightlife! The best restaurants in the city are in Charitas and São Francisco! May 24th, 2004

Getting TO/AROUND: From Rio de Janeiro Downtown,, exactly in Praça 15 to the Niteroi's neighborhood Charitas you can see the whole entrance of the Bay with its mountains and little beaches in Niteroi, passing through Jurujuba, my favourite fishermen village. You can see views of Rio and Niteroi that you not commonly see, so just by paying 5 reais you can have a real and cheap tour in the Guanabara Bay. Once in Chartias you can walk in the ebach front and use the famous seafood restaurants! In the pciture you can see the Sugar Loaf hidding in the mountains of Niteroi! So crossing the Bay could be a nice one day tour when you are in Rio de Janeiro! May 24th, 2005
