Until today this mountain is a reference for anyone who gets in Rio from the Ocean, it shows you the entrance of the famous Guanabara Bay. Its image demends respect and tells you everything that is waiting for you in Rio. That is really one of the best places where you can understand the whole city! You pay 30 reais for the ticket (attention, it is only a friendly information!!!!), which is less than 10 dollars, and you can have the best views of the city! And in the picture you can see the Cable car which we amazingly call BONDINHO. April 29th, 2005

It is one of the most imprresive fortress in the city of Rio de Janeiro, forte São Joao has an island called Morro Cara de Cão that you can clearly see in the picture! Well, this is exactly the place where the city began, a little settlement in the 15 hundreds that the indians called CARIOCA. Cari means WHITE MAN and Oca means HOUSE...so the name given for citizens from Rio really means HOUSE OF WHITE MAN! In that time that place was safe to avoid the indians which were not very friendly in that time and some of them had the bad habits to have WHITE MEN as a meal :))))) Only in 1564 they built the fort. The portuguese were and still are, great architects!;) April 29th, 2005

It is one of our most important natural resources in the country, but you know it is being destroyed by men's stupidness, thanks God the few parts we have are highly protected and in Rio it could not be different, it offers us fresh air, adventures and many good things that the Nature provides! The Mata Atlântica covers almost all over the brazilian coast and in the State of Rio, it is specially beautiful and you can find it also in the Sugar Loaf, and sometimes the monkeys come to welcome you!;) In the picture you can also see the mountains of Niteroi!
