SIMPLE PLACES TO EAT and other Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Restaurant Reviews

Restaurant Name: NOSSA CASA

Most of my tips here will be places where you can go and feel the local taste, they are places where locals like going (just like myself). I would say I am a local with some inteernational culture, and I do love takin my friends to eb part of us!

Here you can see my french-canadian friend Pierre, when we went to the favelas in Niteroi, Marcio Omatsu was with us, and we had a great time and a wonderful lunch with grilled fresh ocean fish and lots of schrimps!;)

Restaurant Name: CIRCULO MILITAR

Several national drinks are served there, you have two great options, a la carte or the famous BY KILO. And this wonderful view paying honest prices!

Nobody knows that place, it is actually a social club running by the Militery Forces and specially made for the students.

Feel people know where it is, and I will tell you the secret, it is in the right side of Praia Vermelha - URCA

Favorite Dish: The food is delicious, try the sea food, they have great taste regarding brazilian food, and our ocean fish are delicious!

Restaurant Name: CIRCULO MILITAR DA PRAIA VERMELHA

This is one of the nicest restaurants in Rio in my opinion, it is not touristic, but absolutely local, the place is managed by the Brazilian Army and it is for the people who work in the Army Schools in the Area of Praia Vermelha!

Restaurant Name: LAGOAS BAR

It is a very simple place, but it holds many incredible secrets, one channel connecting the ocean and one of the cleanest laggon in the State of Rio de Janeiro. It has two of the best beaches of the city of Niteroi, Itaipu and Camboinhas, and the staff are simple fishermen!

It means the food is very very cheap!

Favorite Dish: The very famous brazilian seafood dish: bobo de camarao!

You should try this food, once in the best this food was forbidden by the society saying it was SLAVE FOOD, now, it is one of the most interesting food that we have! It is made of shrimp and yuca cream!

Directions: Itaipu is very famous, it is one of the last ocean beaches of Niteroi and you can easily reach by bus, bus 38 close to the ferry boat!;)

Restaurant Name: BAR DA SONIA

Sonia has her own kitchen for her own house and her little bar that she has in her house! SO IT IS A HOUSE RESTAURANT!;)

Her strongest talent is the sea food, and her bar is located in one of the most famous fishermen community in Niteroi, JURUJUBA.

I usually take my foreign friends there, in that day Sebi and Deni from Germany were having a great time with me at Lunch Time

Favorite Dish: Shrimps grilled with butter are HEAVENS DELIGHT!

Restaurant Name: BUT YOU CAN HAVE A LUNCH IN A FAVELA HOME

On the top of the houses in the favela you can have gorgeous ocean views, it is a kind of a social programme I was planning to do, some days before we can go to a supermarket and we buy food for one week, we pick up a very poor family, and the family can make a great lunch for us, and they have food and sometimes school supplies for one more week!

The Official Help is not so efficient, so I was try to find a way to do it myself!

Favorite Dish: IN POOR BRAZILIAN HOUSES THE EVERYDAY FOOD IS SIMPLY DELICIOUS, BUT FOR SURE IN YOUR DISH YOU WILL FIND RICE AND BEANS, BUT THEY CAN PREPARE A GREAT BRAZILIAN BARBECUE, THE FAMOUS FEIJOADA AND IF THE FAVELA IS CLOSER TO A FISHERMEN COMMUNITY LIKE THIS ONE IN JURUJUBA, BE SURE THAT THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLY ORGASTIC!

Restaurant Name: LAGOAS BAR

Eating a delicious local dish of sea food coming from the fishermen all around a wild scenery, that is what you get if you come to Niteroi.

And Niteroi is very close to Rio.

Itaipu lagoon is one of the pleasant surprises that this city can offer!

Directions: This is one of the last ocean beach in Niteroi, better going by car, but if you decide to go by bus, the 38 bus leaves Niteroi's downtown in every 20 minutes!

Restaurant Name: CITY PARK

It is a Pasta Festival in front of the so´histicated beach of São Francisco in Niteroi, you pay just one fee and you eat all kind of pasta, all kind of pizza, plus barbecue and the best of brazilian food!

The place is really cool, modern and confortable.

Favorite Dish: The chocolate with strwberries pizza are excelent!

And we kept on fighting against the Army of Pasta, it was a rough fight, but mari and I devoured many slices of pizza, and the most powerful troops were the chocolate ones!

Favorite Dish: You really should go to São Francisco and find City Park, this is the best pasta restaurant in Niteroi and you just pay less than 12 dollars and you have a huge variety of brazilian food and pasta in brazilian version!

In my opinion this is the best pasta place in Brazil! :)))))

There is just one problem in a place like this, you simply cannot stop eating. Goodness, so many gorgeous food and all different flavors, City Park place does the best for you.

Favorite Dish: You should try their barbecue as well!;)))) But surely we love the dessert, chocolate pizza!
