  • Favorite Thing: Sometimes (not always) it is possible to see these cheerful monkeys in the area of The Christ, they are curious and they are not afraid of people!

Fondest Memory: Everytime I go to the Christ I had some funny surprises, and that is the only one time I have ever seen them on the top of the hill, and this hill is called Corcovado!

General Tips: YES, THERE ARE MONKEYS IN RIO
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Many people say that Rio is so exotic that you can see monekys in the streets, that is almost true; you can find them in the forest! :)

It is a very rare scene, this kind of monkey are very few and we still can find them once in a while in our most common places!

Fondest Memory: They were playing right in the Christ, one of the most famous alndmarks of the town!;)

  • Favorite Thing: Actually Niteroi is the second most important city in Rio de Janeiro State, but in some places it keeps the life rhythm of a countryside village, and it is real when very close to one of the main national museums like the MAC, you find a goat family right close to the cars!

Fondest Memory: So you can have the taste of a different place when you visit Niteroi, beaches, forests, mountains and a diverse people, everything can be waiting for you!

    I love Niteroi!

  • Favorite Thing: When my friends come to Rio, certainly make them watch very closerly how we live in our daily lives, and we decided to go to Jurujuba, our biggest fish colony in Niteroi and we could take a real genuine tour in our Bay Coast, and the swedish kids could fish just like the locals!;)

But the mood in the sea was not for fishing and we enjoyed the landscape and had lots of fun!;)

Fondest Memory: We really had a nice day in Niteroi! :)

  • Favorite Thing: This time I was luck, I was walking in the huge rock of Itacoatiara where I sually show the beach to my friends and suddenly I came across with that young curious lady!;)

She allowed me to be quite close and take a nice shot and show to the world that the Nature is always present wherever you go in Niteroi!

Fondest Memory: Yes, surely being in Niteroi is a pleasure where I love sharing with good people!

  • Favorite Thing: Elevators (lifts for the british) and escalators are new features to provide easy access to the top of Corcovado!

So you can avoid to climb up stais, and they are long there!;)

Fondest Memory: It is like seeing an escalator in the middle of the Forest!

Yes, Brazil is modern as well!

  • Favorite Thing: Most of the friends I have always to something for our locals, it is a kind of social work that I thought it would be useful. I have lots of friends outside of the country who come here and they are always willing to help!

Some help with food, some others help with food, sometimes money also so we can buy medicines or any supplies that the children might need.

I always pick up any public school in very poor communities in Niteroi or rio, but my action fields are above all in Niteroi.

In this case we chose a poor community in Niteroi called Santa Barbara.

Pierre brought some school supplies from Canada! And he is Pierre giving some fun to our brazilian children.

    November 2004

Fondest Memory: Nothing better to work for the smile of a children! I can guarantee you!

  • Favorite Thing: The Strrets of Montreal are rich and in this same time of the year is full of snow, I am talking about November, in the suburbs of brazilian cities either in Rio or Niteroi, the streets are like this, simple, sometimes very poor, with very simple houses, and the temperature hot as hell.

But me and my friends we enter in house in house offering many help, in that day we were in Santa Barbara (no it is not California!) giveing toys and school supplies for the children!

    November 2005

Fondest Memory: A smile form any children is simply PRICELESS!

    General Tips: THE CITY WORKS
  • Tip Rating:
  • Rio de Janeiro - Rafael in the Niteroi's Bridge
  • Rafael in the Niteroi's Bridge
  • by RafaelTheSecond
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Favorite Thing: It is one of the most modern bridge in the world, it is a huge one but still very short for the population of Rio and Niteroi, in the peak hour the bridge is unbearable, but if something works worng in your car and you have a problem, you have total free assistance. In the case, my car over heated, and they came to me in 15 minutes. Phillip my german friend was with me and guess what, it was my birthday!!! :)

    September 28th, 2005

Fondest Memory: The real name of the bridge is PONTE COSTA E SILVA, it links Rio and Niteroi and this is the main road to the main highways of the State!

General Tips: DO NOT MAKE TOURISM IN A FAVELA
  • Tip Rating:
  • Rio de Janeiro - A curious side of rio - THE FAVELAS
  • A curious side of rio - THE FAVELAS
  • by RafaelTheSecond
  • Send Photo to a Friend
  • Favorite Thing: It is very serious...People who live there are not happy to live in such bad conditions, people who live there, most of them lve under the fear, by crossfires and gang wars. some have to open their houses for the thiefs to get hidden, some have lots their children thanks to the conflicts that it might occurt.

Why making a tour to see poverty when you know that poverty already exists?????

Fondest Memory: It is impressive for sure seing so many houses covering a huge hill, which is very common all over Rio de Janeiro, like this picture I took in the corners of Santa Tereza, the back side of the neighborhood has 3 big favelas, and one of them is called MORRO DOS PRAZERES!
