THE CEILING OF A OVERHELMING STATE I challenge you, if you are not brazilian, have you heard about a pretty location called TEIXEIRA????
I am sure not...but since you know that I am always in the mood to look for new destinations in Brazil and tell to the world, YES YOU SHOULD COME AND SEE FOR YOUR OWN EYES!!!
Teixeira is beautiful...Teixeira has a treasure that many cities in the countryside of the North-East have, their brave and sweet people...but Teixeira even has something special, Teixeira has got the arms to hold me...
Teixeira has something that every visitor to this planet called Brazil hadrly could see. In Teixeira you will see one of the souls of this marvelous Brazil.
This little village has the highiest peaks of Paraiba State, such a green and dry region full of lakes and bushlands, and local parties which call people's attention from every little corners of the area.
I was welcome in many houses, and I was accepted by the locals and told them that I will tell to the world the joys of Teixeira, and for sure you will witness of of the biggest St. John Parties in Brazil.
Teixeira is also sight of the legendary Lampiao, a thief conderered the brazilian Robinwood which has the major fear of many farmers in the biggining of the last century. He was feared and loved by many people in the countryside, but in Paraiba he had some problems, a group of brave women resisted the invasion of Lampiao in these dry and remote lands, and thanks to that they were known as PARAIBA MASCULINA MUIÉ MACHO SINSINHÔ...
Which in Portuguese means Paraiba's Macho Women...Meaning that they faught as men to stop Lampiao to invade the farms of Paraiba, to be more precise it happened in a very small town in the western side of the state called Santa Isabel.
Anyway, the region of Teixeira which is also a range of Mountains called Serra do Teixeira is simply magic...If you are planning to visit Brazil I strongly recommend you to think about Paraiba..It is a State where Brazil is much more than Brazil!!!
I love my country and having visited Teixeira made me more and more brazilian.
Thanks to my great friends in Teixeira and all the people who had great fun at São Joao. Special thanks to my beloved friends VERA, DIEGO, SU, JU, CRIS, MARQUINHOS, ELEONORA. SEU LULA AND FAMILY!
Very important, I am very proud and honoured to have all the support needed by the Governor of Paraiba State. Mr. Cassio Lima and the Federal Senator Mr. Efraim Morais, two great people who love this land much more than myself and the result of my work in Paraiba is also dedicated to them! Thank you! |
| Rafael and Seu Lula - Wisdon in the bushland |
| | A TRIP TO THE PAST Seu Lula...He is one of the most known person in Teixeira, he lives there a long time with his wife and children...He owns a tavern exactly like I saw in old movies, places like that do not exist in big urban centres like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. His tavern is right next to his house, and this is one of the places where the news are spread out in the city!
Go there and have a PINGA with the folks, Seu Lula is part of the Brazil's Story...Seu Lula will gladly give you a huge welcome!
Be careful what you say and do, these people are quite conservative, but their heart are bigger than the US MAP!!! |
A VERY POPULAR FESTIVITY - FESTAS JUNINAS BEBIDA SÓ SE FOR CACHAÇA, MUSICA SÓ SE FOR FORRÓ, DESMANTELO SÓ SER FOR GRANDE E SÃO JOÃO SÓ SE FOR EM TEIXEIRA....
This was law during the time I spent in the festivity of St. John in Teixeira which took more than five days!!!
It says: BEVERAGE, JUST CACHAÇA; MUSIC, JUST FORRÓ AND BIG PARTY JUST SÃO JOAO...
Cachaça as few people here know, it is our national drink, it is a spirit, one of the cousins of the caribbean ron and I must say it is much stronger than ron. FORRÓ is the electric rhythm played all over the region of the North-East. DESMANTELO means big fun!!!
And I had fun there, some nights with simply no sleep at all, but I spent some nights to show you the best of the brazilian soul, and how we make one of the biggest parties in the Nation.
The São João Party or simply Festas Juninas are held every june, and people in the north east of Brazil really know how to make it a huge event. The whole area simply stop for the festivity, and you can dance, you can have all kind of fun!
São João Party in brazil is as important as our famous Carnaval, and it is time for you to live such a great pleasure in the farendings of the country! | | | My great friends Cris and Su plus a cute girl |
