Oh my life this was so much fun! I don't think they were going to let me in because I just didn't look enough like a prostitute!!! We got lost trying to find The Chesterfield Pub from the guide book because we just wanted a drink. So, seeing the sign for Route 33 and lonely women in the bar (ahahaha!) we set off for a drink.... We got absolutely wrecked, had a really good craic with the bar staff, got someone to run and copy me an Amr Diab CD to play, nearly saw a fight.....! Fabulous!! Full of Moroccan Men and plain clothes prostitutes and plenty of cheap bottled beer! It kind of reminds me of some of the sleazy little dens at home!

The Chesterfield "PUB": The most boring pub EVER!!!

Nightlife Spot: The Chesterfield "PUB"
We spent ages looking for this pub in the Ville Nouvelle because our Rough Guide promised us an atmospheric gettaway from the hustle of Marrakech. Well, it was certainly serene!!! It's actually called "Bar Anglais" (yup - English bar) everywhere but in the actual bar itself - which, by the way, is located IN the Nassim Hotel and not NEXT TO as our guide suggested. Anyway, it's really not worth looking for and is actually just another stuffy, overpriced five-star hotel bar. Here are some pictures of Jonathan and I yawning.

Djemma El Fna: Djemma El Fna by Night

Nightlife Spot: Djemma El Fna
The square completely changes at night time. Get there as the sun is going down and you'll notice how quickly the smoke gets thicker, the music gets faster and the heavy air gets sweeter. This assault on the senses is absolute. This is the place to relax, get a bite to eat and dance to the most inspiring live music you'll ever hear. The monkeys and snakes have gone to bed and now the musicians and storytellers pull the crowds. The suspense of the storytellers captivates despite the language barrier and the musicians are entrancing - the tempo is really fast and steady. Each small group gathers around a lamp until the group becomes a crowd.
