Solitude

I spent 3 days in Barcelona in May 2006. 3 days in solitude (relatively), one day where I did not speak a single word of English, for the first time in my life. I roamed around, with no concrete plans, and stayed as long or as short at whatever place for however long I desired.

In the pic, I am really happy, even though I try to look like a tough guy! LOL

Magic Fontain

In Barcelona I stayed at a nice hotel in Eixample, and fell in love with Gaudi. But my favorite moment was probably the Friday night show at the Magic Fountain. For about a half-hour, the lights and water in the fountain are synchronized to opera and classical music. And you can watch the spectacle from right next to the fountain, or all the way up Montjuic. It was divine!

Antoni Gaudi

The Temple of the Sagrada Familia (Holy Family) is undoubtedly Gaudi's crowning achievement. When it is completed, which may be in 2040, it will be the largest Christian church in the world. And, in the opinions of many, the most beautiful. I was enraptured by the Sagrada Familia! Gaudi was a pure genius. I also got to take in the beauty at Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, and Parc Guell, also designed by this genius.
