| Vineyards-Niagara On The Lake |
Niagara On the Lake We first drove through Niagara On the Lake. This place is famous for their wineries, there are about 50-55 of them spread out throughout the region and it’s about 20 minutes from Niagara Falls. We stopped at 3 of the wineries all near each other and I brought back a bottle of wine from each one, and some wine jelly as well. |

On to the Falls We hung out at the falls for a bit, and there were a lot of cool shops and museums and stuff there, so we trolled that little “strip” for a bit. Clifton Hill was really cool. We actually enjoyed that a little more than Toronto itself. We plan to get a group and go back in the spring when it’s warmer. It rained a little bit, but luckily the brunt of the storm passed over really quick and we weren't hit with a major vacation-ruining. Thank goodness! |

Next stop, Toronto! By the time we got into Toronto, it was about 7:30, so it was dark and we took the wrong road getting to the hotel. It wasn’t too far out of the way, we ended up going in a circle and found our way there. The area we stayed in looked kind of ghetto when we pulled up at night. We asked the guy at the hotel about the area because we were skeptical but he kept promising and reassuring us that the area wasn’t bad at all and that we’d be safe and my car would still be there the next day. Seeing it during the day yesterday, it wasn’t as bad as it appeared when we got there at night. After unpacking & getting ready Saturday, we walked down Queen St. and had dinner at a Tex Mex restaurant, then went to the Second City comedy show. After that we came home & crashed & were up fairly early yesterday. We had breakfast at McDonalds then explored China Town and Kensington Market first. Not everything was open yet, since it was only around 10:30 am when we got started. We went into this one Chinese gift shop and Christy made the mistake of picking up one Buddha statue—after that, this cute little old fat man who spoke NO English (my guess, he was the store owner) kept following her around the store bringing her ugly Buddha statues! LOL We left there and jumped on the street car for the CN Tower. We went up in the tower, did the observatory thing, checked out the glass floor, had lunch and walked over to the Hockey Hall of Fame. We got our picture taken with “THE” Stanley Cup. We also managed to stay within our food budget. It was mostly Tim Horton's, or fast stuff (National Coney for breakfast on Saturday, Mickey D's on Sunday) and our Tex Mex dinner was only $26 for the both of us--that was the most we paid for a meal. Sunday's lunch was in the food court at the tower. We had plenty of snacks in the car/hotel. |
