Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan in western China and is a huge city where there's construction everywhere just like in other cities all over the country. But unlike most other cities, Chengdu isn't just full of bland office blocks, apartments or shopping malls. There's visible history here in the form of some superb temple and monastery complexes plus a Tang dynasty tomb. But its main draw card is the world famous Giant Panda Research Breeding Base where you can visit some very cute pandas feeding themselves bamboo early in the morning. I flew in to Chengdu from Lijiang and spent a few days here and used it as a base in order to visit the Great Buddha at Leshan.

The pandas are such beautiful creatures. The Green Ram Temple - Eight Trigrams Pavilion is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
