Rimini was once a quaint seaside resort nestled quietly on Italy's Adriatic coast. Today it is the largest beach resort in Europe. The seafront, which stretches unbroken for almost 15km (9 miles), is lined with clubs, bars, restaurants and hotels. The beaches are clean and well groomed which make Rimini any ideal location for a beach holiday.

But, there's more to Rimini than just the beach. Rimini was once an important road junction for the Romans with Via Flaminia connecting Rome and central Italy and Via Aemilia and Via Popilia connecting northern Italy. The city still has traces of the Romans such as the Arch of Augustus (which stands on Via Flaminia), Tiberius Bridge and small remains of a large amphitheatre. Rimini's city centre is strewn with medieval cobbled streets and important buildings such as the magnificent Renaissance Malatesta Temple, the 15th century Malatesta Fortress and the Arengo and Podestà Palaces in Piazza Cavour.

Great page about a place we usually associate with beaches and parties only. Great job of showing us here a more historic Rimini ! Hope to read more of your travels.
