The small town of Krabi is rather bland and dull but it lies near white-sandy beaches that skirt spectacular limestone karsts for much of the coastline, creating postcard-perfect scenery. Apart from a temple and a market, there's nothing much here. There are caves and waterfalls nearby plus you can take a ferry to the beautiful island of Koh Phi Phi, which is what I did. This is what I used Krabi for, as a base, but I regret not staying on Koh Phi Phi.
