West La Museum

If you have a little time to kill in town I suggest stopping by the West LA Museum on third street. There is no addmission and is a great little view of the development of the local area. It was once a train depot and if you time it right you can be there to witness a passing train, and listen to the rumbling of the tracks and hoot of the horn from a safe distance. There are some great displays such as a quilt made by the local quilters club, a model of the area and a exibit about La opals.

Leesville Christmas Parade

If you are a winter traveler or happen to be in town around the first of December then take a little time to stay for the Christmas Parade. It was our first intro to leesville and when I first realized it wasen't such a bad place to move to. It was huge for such a small town . All the locals stopped and waved at us, no to mention it didn't take long before our pockets were bulging from the candy and small toys being thrown from float. It seemed every Unit, Club, Church and Buisness in town had some representive there. I had a wonderful time and my three year old .... Well I let you figure that part out on your own.

Locals at Mayfest - Leesville

Locals at Mayfest

May Fest 1st Sat in May

For all those who missed the May Fest in historic downtown Lessville, let me tell you, you missed the reason small towns are still on the map. It was a great festival, with local crafters, vendors and smoking entertainment. Their were Cajin bands, country bands and dancers, all that in just the two hours I was there, There were live wood carving demos as well as glass bead making. Don't forget the quilt, and flower shows, festival food and abundance of locals. It was truely what makes the heart and soul of this town shine
