"Small town Heart and Soul" Leesville by jayshell00

Leesville Travel Guide: 17 reviews and 16 photos

Every Military post has one, a town that supports and nurtures it and these towns in return are thriving. Fort Polk's sister town is Leesville, Louisiana. Leesville is small and qauint, but don't let appearinces deseave you, this is a town with huge heart and soul. They believe any thing worth doing is worth doing right, from a simple car wash to raise money, to street festivals, and my favorite the hometown parades. Just chatting with local shop keepers reminds you that southern hospitality is more alive todaythen ever. If you are looking for a special item that a shopkeeper doesn't have, ask for suggestions because they will almost always tell you who has it, how much to expect to pay and the life history of every local in town. You can learn more of our countrys history sitting in the local barber shop or pharmacy then you could ever learn from a text book.
