"Delft Blue tile" - Nagoya

"Delft Blue tile"

Holland@`expo2005

Official name
The Netherlands

This was another very small pavillion..

Water defines what the Netherlands looks like today. The theme for this pavillion was "Land of Water"...

Holland with a long history of intervening in nature and fighting against floods to guarantee a safe and high-quality living environment, alsoit is notable for its extensive use of geographical circumstances to develop economic potential.

Outside the pavilion there is an impressive - a "Delft Blue" tile structure (with blue images on white tiles) ....

land and water..

The pavillion is compose of ONE small room in which you sit or stand around the atrium which is a huge pond at the center, and function as a complete side-to-side media surface in which the aoudiovisual presentation about Holland is viewed for 7 minutes...

The presentation l depict the importance of a balance between man and nature from the unique viewpoint of the Netherlands...

Delft" tiles, typical of the Netherlands' traditional crafts, are also found inside the pavilion. The surrounding walls are covered with "Delft Blue" ceramic tiles presenting a typical view of the Netherlands - a panorama of Amsterdam-style facades, which is the largest hand-painted tile tableau in the world.

NO PICTURE where allowed......hahahah but I sneak one.....naughty naughty...

Romania@expo2005

Official name
Romania

This was a very small pavillion and after waiting so long in line, 20 minutes...I was only able to walk thru the pavillion without seeing the show....:(...which was suppose to be a nice one....There last performance was when I was waiting inline....

The theme of the exhibition is "Legacy to the Future."

The concept of the interior design is based on the idea of combining exhibition space with space for artistic performance. Elements of traditional Japanese theater Noh, lateral ramps and platforms, are combined with an amphitheater, as a suggestion of a natural hill.

A wooden water mill...

.
.... 6 meters in diameter, is located on the right side of the pavilion in a pool. When you pass through the turnstiles, via traditional wooden mechanisms, the movement is transmitted to the wheel and circulates the water in the pool, creating a small waterfall.

It is intended as a re-creation of the sensations of entering a riverside Romanian village.

nordic pavillion - Nagoya

nordic pavillion

Nordic pavillion

The Nordic Pavilion is a joint pavilion of the five Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. This is the third time that the five countries have jointly participated in a world exposition, the last time at the 1970 Osaka Expo.

Official name
Kingdom of Denmark
Republic of Finland
Republic of Iceland
Kingdom of Norway
Kingdom of Sweden

The theme of the exhibition is "Oasis in the North,"

I found it was a little simple the exibit was showing the unique Nordic design and architecture... The presentations include the development of sustainable energy, sustainable utilization of forests, Nordic design elements, and the quest for quality and safety in food produce.

Inside the pavilion there is a small lake where you build a paper boat, write a message on it, and set it to sail to greet the Nordic people.....:)...

Food

A cafeteria in the Nordic Pavilion offers typical Nordic food and beverages from each of the five countries.....I was not able to eat here..but it was looking really nice..also long cues ...

The goods sold at the pavillion were very expensive...but seem of good quality..

belgium pavillion - Nagoya

belgium pavillion

Belgium

Official name
Kingdom of Belgium

The belgium pavillion was a little boring....The main exibit was from artists, Van Eyck which showed the way in which they integrate nature into their work has not only given rise to works of art that are admired down to this day, but has also influenced the society in which they lived at the time.

It also combine artistic imagination with cutting-edge technology. A case in point is the space devoted to the "Regions and the Communities" where the most sophisticated devices provide a projection of the image of Belgium. ...

Shopping

A cafe-restaurant in the pavilion serves a vast range of Belgian beers, which are very popular in Japan.

In addition to beer, there were an entire range of Belgian gastronomy,. including fresh-baked waffles and speculoos (ginger biscuits).

At the souvenier store a large variety of Belgian specialties are on sale at a shop at the entrance of the Belgium Pavilion, including famous brand-name chocolates such as Godiva, Neuhaus and Leonidas, coffee, biscuits and sweets as well as genuine waffles, lace, glasses and knapsacks....

Well I did go crazy with the chocolates, which were great and the only purpose for going to this pavilion..:) and to my suprise they were cheap......lucky me....hahaha..

painting at the portugal pavilion - Nagoya

painting at the portugal pavilion

Portugal@expo2005

Official name
Portuguese Republic

The theme in the exhibition is "Nature and History: Portugal where the land ends and the sea begins."

The pavilion had different sections...
Gastronomy, show the influence of Portuguese cooking and Asian cooking

In the art, the exhibition presents Japanese and Portuguese paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries.

"Portugal and Japan," tells how the Portuguese introduced guns to Japan..

"Portugal and the Four Elements," presents the latest Portuguese projects in development of natural resources and in international cooperation.

The cork tree

The walls in the pavillion where cover in cork..you can feel and touch it...very interesting......

There were a whole section about cork...and even a display of a real tree..
Cork is harvested without damaging or chopping down a single tree..so its very enviomentally firiendly...

The goods

The restaurant in the Portugal Pavilion consists of a long counter where you can taste and buy Portuguese cold food such as codfish cake and octopus salad..

I found the portions sooooooo small..:( and expensive....they were going for around 200 yen a piece of cod cake...

Wines where also serve..you can purchase too...a very popular vine ..PORTO..

Right behind the counter ...special souvenirs like music, books, handicrafts, tableware ..were sold..

maglev train - Nagoya

maglev train

JR central pavilion ..@expo2005

in the CORPORATE PAVILION ZONE A right in front from the WONDER circus is this pavilion.....when I came out of the wonder circus, the line said a 10 minute wait.......so what the hell.......

I was pretty much desapointed with the waiting time.....it was more than 10 minutes outside, then another 15 minute standing inside looking at a short clip of the history of train, then we went inside, to watch the 3-D show..all in all it took 55 minutes......but in my opinion not worth the time....

The theater presents footage of test runs of a superconducting linear motor train MAGLEV at 500km/h with 3-D images...

You can see the REAL MAGLEV coach display outside too....
