Yaizu is a sleepy little fishing port...About 10 minutes ride from shizuoka city station...
The city was founded on March 1 1951..
Yaizu is one of the oldest locality names appeared in Japanese history because prince YAMATO TAKERU (click)of the 4th century was nearly killed by a surrounding fire put by his foes on a trip to conquer eastern Japan.
Yaizu means "burning harbor" |
| | Yaizu is famous for BONITO and TUNA fishes..Every morning there is a fish auction at YAIZU PORT..
even the manhole around town has the design.with a Tuna.....:) |
