Iganga District is a rural district about 45 minutes east of Jinja in Uganda. Iganga district is home to the Basoga people (the predominant group in Uganda is the Baganda, hence the name). Lusoga is the main language used. Lusoga is close enough to Luganda, the national language other than English, to be able to use them almost interchangeably. The main commerce of Iganga district is farming, and you will see many fields of tea, sugar cane, coffee, potatos, mangos, maize, rice, and all kinds of other crops. As they say, "when you drop a seed on the ground in Uganda, it will grow!"
- Pros:beautiful, friendly people, lots of fun kids, you will be a very popular person
- Cons:electricity is scarce, pit latrines are the norm, you will be harassed for money
- In a nutshell:Iganga: not for shopping or tourism, but a wonderful place nonetheless
