| | My daughter's first lesson T'was a lovely autumn day today so my husband gave our daughter her first surfing lesson...and she stood up. It's a great time to learn, the water is still warm enough if you have a springsuit; the sun is shinning; the temperature is about 20 deg; and the waves are small. |
Reflections of my two years in Prague: A few people have emailed me, asking me my feelings regarding living in Prague for 2 years. It was a fabulous experience. If I could turn back time, I would do it again, most certainly. Could I live there permanently, no; would I visit again, yes. The things I liked the most: the architecture (fav was St Peters and St Pauls at Vysehrad, and Mucha's window in St Vitus); the public transport system and the ease & cheapness of travelling around the whole of CZ; my nightclubbing friends and pub nights at the Konvict(travelling home by myself at any time of the night, Prague doesn't sleep, only the metro at 12ish); Canoeing down the Vltava at Cesky Krumlov; Paddling on the Vltava in summer; National theatre ballets; Dehab restaurant; travelling around Europe; the historic festivals and celebrations around christmas; cheap skiing and snow; and mushroom hunting; I loved the language; and most of all ... the friends I made. What I didn't like: having to visit the foreign police for visa renewal every 6 months, Czech health insurance checks; choices and expense of schooling (from AUS$23,000/yr); my appartment had no lift and we were on the 5th floor; apart from svichcova cuts, terrible beef; lack of herbs and spices and other ingredients that I'm use too, like self raising flour and caster sugar (although there were more herbs & spices available every time I went shopping); Czech check outs; not knowing enough Czech.
| | Mikulas - 5th December Little daughter of Eugenethetheduck must have been good this year...only one potato! |
Entertaining friends from Colorado this week These are not my friends from Colorado ... just some friendly Czech guys that let me take a photo....
Up there as one of my favourite restaurants in Prague is Dahab on Rybna. It is best to book as it is always busy. I just had to get a picture of their latest hubble-bubble...very psychedelic.
My friends and I have been going dancing a lot lately til the wee-hours, making the most of city life before returning to my beach home in Oz. | | | New hubble-bubble at Dahab |

| | November 1st Mushroom hunting outside Prague Unfortunately I didn't find one this big! But I did fill a basket with smaller ones. I was very impressed. |

| | 10 weeks to go...Visitors.... In the last 12 days I've had 2 lots of Australian visitors and an afternoon with a Vt'er today..life is never boring! And I never get tired of walking around Prague. |
Home for Christmas Been land locked for long enough. I'm off, back to Oz in December and my home by the sea.
Had a great Northern summer travelling around the Czech Republic, Greece and Italy for 2 months ...... but the Southern summer is calling, and I can't wait to see family and friends again.
This photo is my friend(Aussie living in UK) and I in the Dolomites.
