Malawi seemed like a well organized country, with more brick houses than in Zimbabwe and Zambia. The crops were looking good. We later heard that the had a heavy draught and most of the crops had died, which led to famine and hunger deaths :-(
We spent four lazy days in two different camps by Lake Malawi and one on the road. The same heavy rainfall that had prevented us from getting into Luangwa had washed away two bridges on the road along the lake, which forced us to take a 12 hour detour between the two camps! |

| | Car trouble Froggy got sick in her engine one of the days. How lucky for her (and us) that one of the tour participants was a car mechanic :-) |
Stuck They were building a new road, and the rainfall had turned the detour road into a slippery mudhole! Several trucks were stuck, amongst them our dear Froggy. | | |
