Facts Telemark County spans from the mountain area Hardangervidda to the archipelago of the south coast. The highest mountain is Gaustadtoppen, 1883 meters above sea level. Official Telemark site, available both in english and german. By 1 January 2005 there were 166.295 inhabitants in Telemark. The birth rate is low, immigration is the reason why the population has not declined during the past years. There are 7 towns in Telemark: Kragerø, Langesund, Notodden, Porsgrunn, Rjukan, Skien and Stathelle, and 18 municipalities. I have visited all of them. But I have not necessarily stayed long enough to be able to build separate pages about each one, and will thus write some tips here on the Telemark page. So far I have made pages about three municipalities: Drangedal, Nissedal: Nisser and Treungen, and Kragerø: The town, Tangen, Jomfruland The Telemark Canal, with info in english and german. |
