"The municipality of my railway station" Drangedal by Rusket

Prestestranda is the administrative center of Drangedal, a small community of only 4143 people (01 jan 2005). Although small, you find everything you need here, like a bank, post office, internet cafe, railway station, shops and library in addition to administrative institutions.
Drangedal is situated inland in the south-eastern part of Norway. Summers are nice and warm, but winters might be very cold, down to (and below) -30 C.
As you can see from the picture, we are preparing ourselves for a cold winter at Brøsjø Station. Brøsjø lies in the southern part of the community, half an hours drive from the coast and the nearest city, Kragerø.
The southern main railway line of Norway, from Oslo to Stavanger, runs through the municipality. Trains stop at the community center Prestestranda and at Neslandsvatn, 4,1 km north of Brøsjø. From Neslandsvatn there is a bus connection to Kragerø, which is the one I use when going to my station :-)
- Pros:Peace, clean air, beautiful nature
- In a nutshell:In the middle of nowhere - but close to everything

It is quite a clean and pristine looking place where you live-and the snow must be fun to play in, not work in. YOU have shown the area very well
It looks like a lovely town you live in. So cool to live in an old railroad station!
Hello Rusket, Very interesting VI postings. We have been to some of the same places in Germany and I travel by train. My gg grandfather was from Norway. Where, ?? though I am searching and if it is near you I may take up your invetation to visit.
Hi Marit.... life is good at the moment, thank you. Hope all is good for you... what's new? Have you thawed out there at Brøsjø yet?
I enjoyed my virtual visit to your hometown, Magit. "Middle of nowhere" and "close to everything" sounds a lot like my home village of Miccosukee, and the nearby larger hometown of Tallahassee. :)
I've never been to Norway nor lived in a train station. Read several of your tips trying to find out more about each. Learned more about Norway but not the station. Have you written tips on that?
I will have to visit the famous train station one day and admire the passing Signatur trainsets. What a dream holiday for a trainlover!
unfortunately i won't be able to join your birthday party even if i'll be very close to dragnedal that day. i will be at work in varmland leading a trip and i don't think my guests want me to take off for a birthday party and leave them in the wild.
Seems like the ideal place to live, away from city noises ;-)
I missed your trip entirely. darn it. I would have loved to have met you. Maybe next time. :-)
