"The lake and its surroundings" Nisser by Rusket

Nisser Travel Guide: 4 reviews and 3 photos

Nisser is the biggest lake in Telemark: 40 km long and 250 m deep. The lake is surrounded by nice beaches and tall mountains, and there are rock carvings, burial mounds and other cultural monuments in the vicinity.

Most of the lake lies within the border of the municipality Nissedal, which cabn be translated as Valley of gnomes. The plural form of Nisse is Nisser. We also use the word nisse for Santa Claus: Julenissen :-)

I have built a separate page about Treungen, the community center.
