"SANIBEL - WHAT KEY WEST USED TO BE" Sanibel Island by Homanded

Sanibel on the West Coast of Florida is where many Miami'ans escape for some R&R.
Only a 2 1/2 hour drive straight up I-75, it is a completely different world to Miami's sometimes hectic and overwhelming city life.

Beautiful beaches, shallow sand bars, plenty of unique sea shells and sand dollars (these are protected and need to be put back) - and even dolphins and turtles.
Sanibel is an ideal 3-5 day getaway if you have the time.

Additionally, the trip out there takes you past some of the Everglades National park and various wildlife sanctuaries in case you feel like stopping.

• Cons:Can be pricey but there are deals to be found.
