Teatrul Tineretului ( Youth Theatre) Piatra Neamt

The spiritual life of the town spins around Teatrul Tineretului institution having one of the best groups in the country.
YT played a special role in theatrics life from Romania even before 1989.
Placed at a considerable distance from Bucharest (370 km), county capital had a greater freedom from the censor's part and the reportorial and stage-manager's initiatives provoked the kindness of the critics.
So, YT becomes very soon the temporary "asylum" of the most talented graduates of Theatre and Film Academy of Bucharest.
In the present, YT is one of the most dynamic, modern and nonconformist theatres from Romania.
Probably thanks to its youth: 70% of the actors are under 30 years old.

History Museum

It was founded by priest Constantin Matasa in 1934 and stores over 20,000 objects from the Stone Age until our days.
The museum owns the most important collection in the country, which belongs to Cucuteni eneolithic civilization (the IVth and IIIth millennium b.C.), which was the last great civilisation of ancient Europe.
Also there are presented the traco-geto dacic civilisation of the region, the medieval habitant, aspects of local history from modern and contemporaneous epoch, the museum activity, and temporary exhibitions.
Under the aegis of the museum it is published the magazine "Memoria Antiquitatis"

The Palace of the children

This lovely home is an old villa, with much comfort and class.
The squire Dumitru Lalu, built this house, and lived there, together with his family.
In the year 1947, it was confiscated, and changed, in "Casa Pionierilor"(The house of the pioneers).
Now, after 1989, this institution became the Palace of the children.
Many children of the city, has the possibility to practice important activities here.
The children can here learn: paint and signs, does embroidery and sews, clench, fashion dance, gymnastics, electro technology, chemistry, astronomy, sport, cooking, and other important activities.
As child, I was very often into this house, and I learned there, additional to my school, many important and essential matters.

Natural Science Museum

It exists from 1960 in the building donated by memorable historic Iulian Antonescu.
It stores an impressive collection of 29 species of fossil fish, unique in the world, but also exhibits rarities of geology, flora and fauna of Neamt mountains (Ceahlau especially).
Museum publication is "Studies and Research."

The National College Petru Rares

The college Petru Rares is the most important school of Piatra Neamt
This school is known for its ages, but also for its special didactic quality.
It was established, first in 1869, as Classic gymnasium.
The first headmaster of this school was the author Calistrat Hogas.
All its teachers were always very competently and known as important personalities.
At the 31 August 1877, the Classical gymnasium is changed in Real gymnasium, and later, in 1893, is named Petru Rares.
On 1 September 1897, this elite school is named High school, and in summers of the year 1887, it begins the construction of the actually building.
The students of this school had their own newspapers and magazines, and their own theatre group.
Many of the students which have a graduation at this college are now important and famous people, of scientific lives.
I am proud that I learned also, into this important high school of Piatra Neamt.

The library "GT Kirileanu"

This library has a remarkable property of over 250,000 books and other writings.
The building was built in the year 1972.
On the facade of these, construction it is a valuable mosaic, named "science and culture", the work piece of the artist Vasile Iacob.
In this library, exist 30,000 valuable books that were donated in the year 1956, from the bookmaker G.T.Kirileanu (1872-1960), which was always, in the permanent contact, with known important people, from politic and cultural artistry lives from whole Romania.
Under this precious books, from this library, there are many old volumes, that have an inestimably value.

The house of the culture

This cultural institution from the town, has a spectacle hall with 600 places, a meeting room, a library and others of halls, where happen many cultural activities.
The culture house organizes the biggest concerts, scientific meetings or spectacles of the town.
It is an important place in Piatra Neamt, a venue for many culture friends, and a place, where the schoolchildren from Piatra Neamt, organize their cultural events.

"Muzeul de arta neolitica Cucuteni"

History and archaeology museum, B
The History Museum is well known for its geto-dacic vestiges discovered in the Neamt county but especially for its rich collection of polychrome neolithic ceramics of the Cucuteni culture (one of the most developed neolithic culture in Europe).
The second part of the museum became at the 24. June 2005 opens, as museum of the neolithic art, Cucuteni.
It is the first Cucuteni museum from Romania.

Memorial Museum "Calistrat Hogas"

The only museum dedicated to Calistrat Hogas, is placed just in the same house witch in the writer lived the most of his life.
Reorganized after Sidonia Hogas notes, museum's rooms offer to the visitor the ambiance of a house dating in the beginning of XXth century.

Ethnography Museum

It presents aspects of traditional peasant household of Valea Bistritei (Bistrita Valley), the popular Romanian costume of the region and the principal trades from sub Carpathian region of Moldavia (wood processing, the weaving, furrier's processing).
