Restaurant Name: Uferhaus Georg Humer
This restaurant is situated exactly on the shore of the Danube, in splendid and magical surroundings, middles of the national park Danube meadow.
The first, simple work-builds of the riparian house, was intended, as accommodation possibility, for the Danube fishers, and for the passengers of the steamships, that drove on the Danube.
Since 1936, the house functions under the management of three generations of the family Hummer.
In the course of the time, the members of the family Hummer changed this simple cottage in a fashionable and famous restaurant, with exquisite fish specialties and a familiar and comfortable atmosphere.
In the year 1986, as Georg (III), took on the family business, the riparian house celebrated its 50th Birthday, under the leadership of the family Humer.
The restaurant celebrates, this year, 2006, its 70th jubilee.
The continuous efforts of the hosts, in order to spoil the guests, the super-delightful fish specialties, that are prepared after the original recipes of the Aloysia Humer, always extend the reputation of the house.
A famous and much in demand fish specialty is the Serbian style carp (Karpfen auf serbische Art), that is also an old original recipe of the house, and really a unique exquisiteness.
Favorite Dish: The Uferhaus is an idyllic rest stop, not to far from Vienna but nevertheless far-away from noise and stress.
In the spring, the whole surroundings of the restaurant are covered with white snowdrops that make a fantastic picture together with the forest and the river.
Through the forest or along the Danube stream, one can go to stroll for hours and observes the nature.
The children find here, on the camp meadow before the house, an adventure playground, in the figure of an aground pirate ship.
Rolling, and other game possibilities, are available to the little guests, fighting the parents sits on the terrace of the restaurant.
One can reaches this place also with the boat, on the Danube.
In Vienna, there is now, the first Viennese boat taxi, that offers for groups, boat trips from the centre of the city to the Uferhaus, and back.
