Getting TO/AROUND: Venice's most frequent public means of transportation are the "Vaporetti".
That were driven, originally, with steam, therefore the name, "small steamship".

For the tourist, the most important Vaporetto lines are 1 (Piazzale Roma - Lido and back), and 82 (San Zaccaria - Canale della Giudecca - Tronchetto - Ferovia - San Marco, in the summer to the Lido and back), they drive over the Canal Grande, at each station holds, and one has much time of looking.
There are more lines, 41und 42, both until Murano, and 51 and 52, until Lido.
The line N drives in the night, hourly.

The ACTV (Azienda Cosorzio per il Trasporto di Venezia) is placed into the Piazzale Roma, is opened daily from 7.30 to 20.00 o'clock, and drives the boats in the city and the lagoon.

We came every year here by car, but last year, we came here by train.

Getting TO/AROUND: Santa Lucia is the Railway Station of Venice, placed on the shore of the Canale Grande.

This is a beautiful new edifice, with all the facilities of a modern Station.
It was built in the middle of the 19th century, and then, it was rebuilt in the year 1950, and finished with modern facilities.

In the front of the station, there are the stairways that make the connection with the shore of the canal, where is the Vaporetti Station Ferovia Santa Lucia.

The Train station makes the bond of Venice Laguna with the mainland.

In the inside hall of the building, there are numerous tickets automats or offices, where you can buy the tickets for your trip, and a information office for the tourists.

A small hotel in the inside of the station is very appreciated by the guests.
This hotel, named Albergo Diurno is a day hotel, where the guests have the possibility to stay a few hours and to make a rest, until the arriving of the train.

Getting TO/AROUND: Mestre is a small town, near to Venice, with a railway station in the middle of it.

We came from Lignano, by bus, and we involuntary get off in Mestre, not in Venice.

The station in Mestre is modern and good furnished.

You can drive to Venice by train or by bus, over the Liberty Bridge.

The bus station is situated directly in the front of the train station.

We came accidentally here, but we were happy about, because we found another place, where we can park our car, or we find a good hotel at a low price.

The transport to Venice is without difficulty and you can save a lot of money by parking and slipping.
