  • Hofburg is the Imperial Palace in Vienna, and the pride of the whole Austria.

The build of the palace has begun in the 13th century.

The oldest part of the Hofburg Complex is the Schweizerhof with its famous entrance the Swiss Gate.

The Amalienburg and the Leopoldinische Trakt, the Michaelertrakt and the National Library are parts of the ancient wing of the palace.

Neue Burg is the newest part of the building.
That was built in the year 1913, before the beginning of the First World War.

The Burggarten is a splendid component of the beauty of the palace, and the Heldenplatz – the Place of the Heroes is a popular and well-known place in front of the Neue Burg.

Hofburg was the home of the Habsburgs and now it is a place for relaxing and edification for many tourists that come here, but also for the Viennese that have an attraction for the history.

Things To Do: Staatsoper in Vienna
  • Tip Rating:
  • In May 1869 took place into the new build Opera House the opening concert, with the Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni.
The new edifice was made after the plans of the architects Eduard von Nüll and August Sicard von Sicardsburg.
The Viennese were not enchanted about the new construction that was certificated as a big railway station.
In the Second World War’s time the Opera House was destructed by bombardments, and the new rebuilding was finished until the year 1955.
The new opening of the edifice took place into the year 1955, with the opera Fidelio of Beethoven.
Every year, in the last Thursday of the carnival time, the Opera Ball takes place in the there.
This is a popular and famous event in Vienna, and the meat point for the High Society from the whole world.
The Opera House is placed direct in the central part of Vienna, in the heart of the historical, cultural and artistic section of the city.
