That's what it says on the licence plates of Canberra cars anyway. And no, it does nothing to soothe the nerves of the rest of Australia, already irritated by Canberra's "fairyland" disposition. But let not the politics of Canberra interfere with the pleasure of any visitor to this fair(y) city. |
So what is the real Canberra? A bunch of national monuments? A seat of government? A country town with city aspirations? An outback grassland with artificial vistas painted on? A bunch of working age people temporarily camping together while drawing a publicly-funded pay cheque? Or all of the above? Ask a local! We're just as good at both revering and denegrating our nation's capital as any other Australian. |

I've lived in Canberra all my life. I therefore know little of the joys of living in Sydney (heavy traffic, high density population, social problems), Melbourne (unpredictable weather, inefficient public transport system), Brisbane (unpleasantly warm year round), or any other Australian cities (what are their names again?). So hit me with your questions about how you are going to get enjoyment out of your visit to Canberra. |
