Rome: So much to do, never enough time

Rome: An Intro

View from our hotel
Rome is one of those cities you either love or you hate. I happen to love it!! I was a little skepitcal on my first visit but I soon fell in love and keep returning to get my "Rome fix" . Rome is a city that should be explored on foot. The ancients built the city with walking in mind, as that was their main mode of transportation. By walking, you get the feel of this wonderful city. Exploring the hidden courtyards and back alleys at your leisure is a great way to spend a day. Wandering and getting "lost" in the history of this beautiful city is my favorite things to do.
Rome is a city of complete opposites. The traffic rushes by you at a fightening pace, and then everyone slows down for a nice two to three hour meal. People rush to get into the colosseum and then spend hours exploring it. They rush to get to the spanish steps and then spend hours just people watching. The Roman way of life will catch up with you if you are there long enough. You will find yourself lingering over meals, sitting down to enjoy a coffee or enjoying a glass of wine after your meal. You'll find yourself wandering thru the many parks on lazy afternoons. The pace in Rome is quite different from here at home, so just let yourself become immersed in it and enjoy all this wonderful city has to offer.

There is never enough time to see Rome

Rome is a city where there are things to see around every corner, literally!! The evidence of the former gradure of the city is evident everywhere. You can see fountains in almost every piazza. You can see the aquaducts that used to supply water to the town. There are monuments and churches and galleries and museums.... There is so much to see in Rome that one vacation will only whet your appetite. I have been to Rome dozens of times and I always find new things to see and do. I stop into small churches and am amazed by the decoration inside, I walk down an alleyway and see ancient columns standing against new buildings, the list is endless of the things Rome has to offer. So take your time and enjoy this great city. Walk down alleyways, poke your head into courtyards and visit all the churches you can. You won't be disappointed.

Hi Donna, the ticket and line tips are worth a bunch. Wow! 14 euros to see the museum. Worse than London prices. Thanks for the great advice. We will use it.
