Driest City / Driest Continent

Beautiful City of Adelaide, South Australia

I was originally born in Dublin, Eire yet Adelaide has been my home town for much of my life. I have also lived in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and even further afield in New Zealand.... but I always seem to come home to Adelaide.

Although its renowned as the driest city in the driest continent - you would be amazed at just how green and pretty the city and surrounding landscapes are. The best part of living here is that from the centre of the city it only takes 15 minutes to get to the beaches and if you would prefer a bush escape then its equally only 15 minutes to get to the Adelaide Hills.

Many spots up in the hills actually look more like little German villages and in fact were settled by many Germans a long time ago.

A trip to the Barossa Valley is an absolute must for any Epicureans amongst you out there. We boast numerous international award winning wines.

There is hardly ever even a traffic jam and it takes me only 7 minutes to drive into work from home.

If you travel inland you will see the stark yet peaceful beauty of the 'outback'. Red dusty soil, salt bushes and yes lots of kangaroos! I will endeavour to show you the many contrasting landscapes in the following tip pages.
Koala eating Eucalyptus leaves
The ever cuddly Koala... dont be fooled though... as sweet as they look they can be fierce at times too. Hard to believe ... yes but true!
Flight into Adelaide view of River, City and Hills
The view over the city, the River Torrens and across to the start of the Adelaide Hills.

Pros:"Smaller city/Cheaper Business Rental/Close to Everything/Excellent range of restaurants from every country in the world/Multi-cultural/beautiful parklands, beaches and hills/Adelaide Festival of the Arts/gateway to Kangaroo Island."
Cons:"Oddly enough I cant think of anything negative about this place"
In A Nutshell:"A most accessible and beautiful city to live and work in."
