Site of the filming of "The Sound of Music", as well as the birthplace of Mozart, this fair city boasts one of the most impressive castles in Europe, and some of the prettiest views I have seen anywhere. |
|  | Maria Plain A wonderful Basilica in its own right, and a tremendous view of Salzburg and the surrounding mountainsides to boot! I stayed here in July, 1978, during my first visit to Europe. It took my breath away then, and still does. I've spent several days simply exploring the hillside and running along the fields and paths. |
The interior of Basilica Maria Plain During our stay there, our Chorus group performed at this wonderful Church. It was a memory I am not likely to forget.
