Meycauayan, Bulacan

Meycauayan, Bulacan is a municipality located just north of Metro Manila. One of the oldest town in Bulacan, which was founded in 1578 by Franciscan Friars. Very prominent in the area is the old stone church of St. Francis of Assisi, with its belfry constructed in 1880 and cementery gate erected in 1885.

One of the existing old Bahay na Bato (stone house) located just at the back of the church. Most of the old stuctures were blazed by fire in 1949 including the church itself.

Meycauayan was once famous for its adobe stones (volcanic tuff). They were used to build some churches in Manila such as Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church. The walls of Intramuros was also made with adobes from Meycauayan.
