The region of Al-Hudeida is also known as Tihama region. The Tihama is a region of coastal plains , where itīs usually really hot.It is placed between the Red Sea and the Highlands, and is no more than 50km wide. This area is specially fertile, because of the soils carried away by the wadis from the mountains. Because of this, wadis valleys become an oasis in the middle of the dry plain, and tropical crops are farmed. The main wadis are Wadi Mawr in north, Wadi Surdud and Wadi Shibam in the center of the region ans Wadi Zabid in south. |

| | This region is a mixture between arabian and african cultures: people from this land are often african (their ancestors were Somal or Ethiopian) and live in african-style: the typical building in Tihamaīs villages is the african hut, made of branches, reed, plamtree wood and mud. |
