A Warning about New York City is that most of the prices don't included tax and shops will add it on to the price. Currenty Feb 2006 - NYC Sales tax is currently 8.375%. Some other costly taxes, are the NYC Hotel taxes, this will really increase your bill Hotel tax 5% a day + $2 . plus you have to pay Sales tax as well, not to mention Hotels now charge $1.50 to collect the tax per day. It all mounts up. Hotel bill Room rate $89 per night Hotel tax $4.45 + $2 NYC Sales Tax $7.45 + $1.50 collection fee Total Tax $15.40 Total Bill $104.40per night
