San Remo Hotel: Great value in the heart of North Beach

Only in San Francisco for 2 nights, and my travel guide recommended this place. $50 a night is pretty good value. Great location. Shared bathroom was an experience! Don't really know what the protocol is there - is okay to walk down the hall in your pyjamas? If you ever stay here have a look at the blown up tourist map they have on the wall, marks out all the favourites, and some great "off the beaten" track locations.
