Spent a few nights in Phuket. Phuket has a bit of something for everyone. We spent our time on group trips to the other islands. Some pretty spectacular scenery. Great "relax by the beach" locations.
Spent one night in Patong - which probably would've been a great place when I was 19 years old. Lots of booze, partying, lots of other young tourists, go-go bars. Really really cheapened by market spruikers. Went there one night for dinner just to see what it was about. Wasn't in a hurry to go back - plenty of other sights to see on the island!
It seemed pretty tailor made for tourists to me. Probably not the place to go to "meet the locals"? |
