Why?

Sunset on the Thames
Putting together some pages on virtual tourist for one reason. I really want a diary of my travels before I forget them, handy place to display some of the photos I've taken along the way.

Also I want to contribute to this great community website. I'm very impressed with the quality of the content on this site. And I've used it to plan a lot of my recent travel - wish I had've known about it earlier.

Where?

Up until 2000 I pretty much hadn't done any travel. Got my passport in 98 for a 1 week trip to Hawaii. Then in 2000 my girlfriend and I uprooted our lives in Sydney and made the move to London.

London's a great base for European travel, and there's plenty of Aussie's there exploiting it! While there we did a few short 1 week / weekend trips: Paris, Amsterdam, Nice, Seville, Copenhagen. A few excursions in England. Then after 11 months there it was time to go back to Sydney, so we spent the last month there travelling around Europe on Interrail tickets. Stopped in Tokyo for 4 nights on the way home.

Since then I've had a quick jaunt around the Pacific Northwest of North America while in Seattle for work. And we'd had our honeymoon in Thailand.

Where next?

We've got some half-arsed plans to return to Europe. South America looks very spectacular, Inca trail in particular!

I'd really love to do a east coast USA/Canada trip sometime: Toronto, Montreal, New England, New York - something like that anyway.
