"So Often Overlooked..." County Roscommon by Sagespot

Not to be Missed!!

County Roscommon is beyond beautiful! I find it SO shocking that many people never even pass through the lovely lake filled region of Ireland.

Home to over 5,000 megalithic tombs, ring forts, and mounds - the area's not to be missed!

The County is the largest complex of a Celtic Royal Site in Europe.!!

Where...

The largest and easiest to explore area of mounds is the Rathcrogan Complex near Tulsk. A visit to the Heritage Center will supply you with a map and you'll be on your way. (This abbey is located opposite the center.)

Beware...

Many of the monuments are on private land, so permission is often required - not only out of respect, but also due to the fact that many of the mounds are used as prime grazing land during the off-season.

This place does seem very overlooked. I am your first visitor.
