Snowy Sights

Old Town Square Christmas Market
My husband and I spent a little over a week walking around in chilly central European Prague this winter.

It was his first trip outside the US (going to Prague was actually his idea) and I'm so excited that he finally decided to join me on one of my crazy trips. Travel is indeed one of my true loves. I managed to get a great deal on airfare (486USD including taxes round trip from Des Moines, Iowa USA;) and our hotel was totally paid for as I used my Marriott Rewards from my visa to secure an 8 night stay for free in a Marriott downtown so it was a really resonable priced holiday.

Winter Delight

The snow fell often during our trip - with gentle flakes that illuminated the walks and tiled rooftops of the city. We spent a good amount of our time wandering around town on foot and exploring all the odds and ends of the more unique sites.

Of particular note would be witnessing the Clubbing of the Carp (see the travelogue below,) our Karlstejn adventure (see my Karlstejn page,) and wandering around Vysehrad citadel in the freezing cold.

Our Celebrations

This trip was a celebration of our three year anniversary (actually falls the day after we got home but who's counting) and my one year survival with cancer. I couldn't have asked for a better holiday reward. I would go back in a second!

Pros:"If this is your first time traveling abroad, Prague is great, as most people speak English, are very kind, and the city is GREAT for walking no mater what the season!"
Cons:"A bit on the "touristy" side of things, but in the winter it wasn't that bad."
In A Nutshell:"If you have a choice - go in the winter!!"

Me again, stopping back to read the rest of your tips on Prague. As I said, my one visit to Prague was 39 years ago, but I hope to go again, maybe next spring or summer if I can fit it in.
