This is more of a warning than a "danger" type tip. I noticed a few stations in the Metro where your ticket was required to get OUT of the station. So when you put it in the machine on your way into the entrance, make sure to grab it before you push through the turn-style. Try not to fold it, but just keep it flat in your pocket or hand. This way it's ready and in good shape should you be asked for proof of ticket while riding or to use when you exit the building. In a pinch, ask a local who has a pass and they can bunch in behind you at the turn-style, and the two of you can push through the machine together. (This happened to me and worked really well.)
