Like many tourists, I was in Paris for about a week and wanted to see something outside the city limits. Versailles was a great choice. It's super easy to get there via train (see my transportation tip,) and more beautiful than I can describe. |
| | Just a Bit If you're looking to take in just a bit of Versailles then I'd recommend the Grands Appartements (State Appartments.) The walk through the building can take about two hours. (See Things to Do tip.) |
| | Renovation I love this photo - when I visited the Chateau was undergoing renovations, and they hung draperies over the construction...that were screen printed to look like the outside of the building. It makes me giggle every time I think about it.
A good thing about this renovation though is that you can often get discounted tickets because sections of the Chateau will be closed for that day. A little budget tip never hurts when the standard day pass is about 20 Euro. (See Things to do tip.) |
