To sum it up: Milan is yet another chaotic, seemingly unorganized big Italian city. But the place is so beautiful, charming and the people so friendly that it is among my top favorite destinations.
I spent 5 great days here in mid-april 2005 and had a wonderful time.
I'm definitely going back soon.
Milan is Italy's second city and is the capital of the Lombardy region. It is situated in the north of the country approx. 500 km from Rome.
The northern part of Italy is by far the most economically developped region of the country. Milan is for instance the financial center in Italy and you will see a countless number of banks all around.
Even if Milan is a typical "working city" it has a great deal to offer in terms of attractions. The Doumo Cathedral is the 3rd largest church in the world, the Teatro alla Scala is known worldwide. For shopping addicts; this is THE place to shop. |

| | Milan is packed by tourists from mid-May until September. April is a perfect month to visit the city without having to queue up everywhere. |
