Crimes / Creatures: Where there's money and tourist....
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Anywhere you have the kind of money floating around and the amount of tourist as you do in Las Vegas, your going to have plenty of pick pockets, con artists, and "run-of -the-mill" degenerates that want to illegally seperate you from your personal wealth. Just exercise the normal precautions, and you should be fine. Avoid, or ignore anyone who comes up to you in the street.

For the most part Vegas is fairly safe, so have a good time, but don't let your guard down.

Time Shares: Time Shares are a Scam!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Avoid these con artist at all cost. Time shares are never a good deal. If they were, they wouldn't have to use the sleazy methods of luring people in to listen to their pitch that they do. These scammers will out right lie to you to get you in. They will make offers of free hotel stays that they will deny making once they get you to the sales pitch. They will request personal info such as credit card#'s and household income to see if you have the means to be fleeced.

Drinking/ Driving/ Police: Free spirited, but not lawless
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • While the Las Vegas police will look the other way on a lot of things, it doesn't mean anything goes. They know it's a party town, so there are certain things that are tolerated, but drunk driving is not one of them. There is plenty of public transportation available, so if you've been drinking (or using other intoxicants), use it. You can get the car later.

Casinos / Gambling: Best odds are downtown
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Without a doubt, the best gambling odds are downtown. You can get good odds at other off the strip hotel/casinos, such as Sam's town too. The worst odds are at small casinos that don't have a hotel attached. Also, avoid slots that are not in casinos, like in stores or at the airport. These are the tightest machines in town.

Agree about Downtown being better than the Strip, especially for odds. Stayed at the Four Queens last time, good value and loved the microbrewery outlet in the corner. Cheers, Clive

I LOVE the Peppermill. There's nothing like a big fatty breakfast in the middle of the night.
