I love Vegas, but it has changed a lot over the years, and not for the better. The strip has become more like an amusement park than a gambling and partying Mecca.
The main problem, as I see it, is they have tried to turn it into a family vacation place. I'm sorry, but there are some places kids don't belong at, and a casino is definately one of those places.
If you want to experience what's left of the old Vegas, get away from the strip and go downtown to Freemont St. While it's not what it used to be either, it's definately better than the cheesy strip. |

| Pros: | "Liberal police force, action 24 hours a day, and reasonably priced if you look for the deals." | | Cons: | "To many old people and families are changing the dynamic, raising the odds, and the prices" | | In A Nutshell: | "Get off the strip and go downtown for the real Vegas experience." |

St_Vincent Mon Jun 16, 2008 20:16 UTC Agree about Downtown being better than the Strip, especially for odds. Stayed at the Four Queens last time, good value and loved the microbrewery outlet in the corner. Cheers, Clive | imlikeabird Wed May 30, 2007 22:22 UTC I LOVE the Peppermill. There's nothing like a big fatty breakfast in the middle of the night. | XenoHumph Thu Jul 7, 2005 18:50 UTC Excellent tips on Las Vegas!!
