Wales

North Wales

Conwy Castle
The northern part of this country has a vast amount of its traffic on the northern route between Chester in England and Holyhead and the ferry to Ireland. The rocky, majestic crags of Snowdonia National Park are rivaled by the mighty walls and soaring towers of Caernarfon Castle one of many great Welsh castles from medieval Wales. The County of Gwynedd is full of Celtic legends of holy islands and druidical mysteries. There is an ancient Iron Age town hidden not far from the Menai Bridge.

South Wales

The capital of Wales can be found down here. Cardiff and its river Taff are an interesting melting pot of old Wales and new England. The Millennium stadium is one of only a couple of european stadiums with a retractable roof and is almost the centrepoint of Cardiff - the other being Cardiff Castle. The large towns of Swansea and Newport togther with Cardiff make up a large part of the population base as well as much of Welsh industry.

This part of the country is also the Rugby stronghold of Wales.

The People

The Welsh are a fantastic bunch. My time here was full of meeting lots of helpful and interesting people. They are Rugby mad and love to drink and sing (a stereotype I know so maybe I met too many of the folk at local Pubs?).

Your stops were so interesting--Cardiff and Conwy Castle, Llanfair and its unbelievably long name, 300 yr. old Cilpost B&B and the stoneage sites would certainly be great places to visit in Wales! You must have had a wonderful time...
