Of Sunshine and Wine

Rapaura Rd gets you to the start of Marlboroughs wines. Hunters is the first stop then on to the likes of Mudhouse and Huia. Hunters is great with plenty of good wine but the other two are a bit lacking in their shopfront. Mudhouse has several good wines but they are over-priced with the sales pitch aimed at overseas visitors. Carry on down this road & turn left at the end. From here I would recommend Forrest Estate, Cellier Le Brun and Te Whare Ra (essential to try the Sarah Jennings). Carry on to Grove Mill and down to Spy Valley Wines - named after the big Golf ball looking building in the Waihopai Valley. Go back down Middle Renwick Rd and left onto Jacksons Rd for stops at Cloudy Bay and Alan Scott (great lunches). Make sure you get a map of the wine region (you can find one in any tourist info place incl Picton & Blenheim) as this will make your navigation much easier. On your way home stop at Johanneshof Cellers and get some dessert wine (or sticky as the Aussies call it).

Have a look at a Wine Region pdf for many of the wineries locations.

Roll on, Roll Off

Marlborough is often accessed via the Ferry terminal at Picton. There are normally around 7 sailings each day for Wellington with as many sailings into Picton. Picton is a nice place to start your Marlborough visit with some spectacular scenery around the corner on the Queen Charlotte drive.
