The Hradcany Castle is an interesting place to visit in this old communist country. Traditions are kept up with the changing of the guard including something very similar to a goose step when the very young chaps go marching. St Vitas Cathedral is located in the Castle grounds and this is defenitely worth a visit. The Golden Lane is also in the Castle area and is not ot be missed. |
| | A River with a History The Vltava is a dirty looking river that winds its way through Prague. It is the scene of one of Pragues Saints - Saint John of Nepomuk - who was retrieved from the river 100 years or so after he was thrown there in his box with his tongue in mint condition - the reason he found himself in this predicament was because he refused to tell the king about the queen's confession. With a tongue in good shape he was quickly cannonised and entered Czech legend. You can find his statue on the Charles Bridge - it's the one with the halo!! |
Wenceslas Square Apparently everything is for sale here and a wander around at night leaves you with a spooky feeling that this may indeed be true. | | | View over Prague from a lower Courtyard of Prague |
