Langham Hotel - formerly Sheraton Hotel - Auckland
Langham Hotel: Langham Hotel - formerly Sheraton Hotel The Langham, Auckland Review
Show Prices

The Langham has the best service of any place I have stayed at in Auckland. It is an older hotel and the rooms are on the small side but they are well appointed and do have nice furniture and good beds. A previous visit had me on the Executive floor which came with wide screen TV and antique furniture. Normally it's the lower floors and they are nicely set up too. Only small complaint is that in many rooms the bed is two singles zipped together to make up a King size bed!

The hotel is located near the start of K' Rd on Symonds St so is close to Queen street and the main shopping area of down town Auckland.

There are always several people out front ready to hep with luggage, find you a taxi or assist in giving directions.

Unique Qualities: The gym here is very good and nothing ever seems to be a problem - even at 10.45pm when one finds that he has no toothpaste...... 5mins after a call to the front desk a toothcare kit was delivered!! In room bottled water is delivered each evening and I get fruit waiting for me on arrival (inside the room!). The bathroom has a full compliment of items from loofa to sewing kit if you are caught short.

Ascott Metropolis Auckland (The): Ascott Ascott Auckland Metropolis Hotel Review
Show Prices

The Ascott was my favourite Auckland hotel when it was on my companies preferred supplier list. It is located around the corner of the top end of Victoria street and is very handy to the shops and food places of downtown Auckland city. The hotel is typical of inner city hotels in that it is a high rise hotel & has a large number (145) of very nicelt appointed rooms.

Most rooms have okay views with the the best (sea views) located higher up on the east side of the hotel. On a clear day you can see across the harbour to the Coromandel Peninsula. The rooms (that I have stayed in) are all uniformly nice though rather sterile.

The restaurant is okay for breakfast though way overpriced (I always find a nice cafe instead).

Address: 1, Courthouse Lane, Auckland null

Price: US$120-180

Carlton Hotel Auckland: Rendezvous Hotel - formerly Carlton Hotel Rendezvous Hotel Review
Show Prices

The Rendezvous is a good place to stay as it is well located at the top of Albert St so not too far from Queen St shopping or places to eat off Albert St. The rooms are all of a good size with some bigger variations on the higher floors.

If you upgrade to Club Class you will get free breakfast each morning and free drinks between 5.30pm & 7pm each evening. The Club lounge is a bit small but has good views over downtown Auckland and the Sky Tower.

Check out their website for special pricing and always try to talk about room price and getting a better deal.

Unique Qualities: The hotel has an okay gym and a couple of restaurants but you will probably want to eat out.
